Sasha and Leah are living the good life. They have money, good looks, great boyfriends, loving families, supportive friends, good grades, and, most importantly, they have each other. They do everything together, from playing sports to planning for their big prom night, and they share a bond of trust and loyalty almost as if they were sisters. However, beneath the surface neither their lives nor their friendship are as untroubled as they seem. When a friend from Sasha’s past becomes the victim of police brutality, their friendship is put to the test as both girls are forced to confront their values and what it means to be privileged in American society.

Interview with Kimberley B. Jones
Thank you Ms. Jones for a insight into your writing, you as a author and a little fun ideas! I enjoyed every bit of your answers and am looking forward to hearing more about you in the coming months!
What inspired you to start writing?
When I was in middle school. A friend and I would sit in the back of the classroom and write stories. When I got to college I created a children’s book and that’s when the passion came. I started off with children’s books, but moved to writing young adult novels that express emotions and viewpoints about issues in society.
What advice would you give a new writer, someone just starting out?
For a new writer, the advice would be to keep the momentum for writing and don’t let anything get in the way of that excitement to have. Maybe today is not your day but tomorrow is another day. Seek information from other writers and people who have published books.
How do you develop your plot and characters?
I developed my characters by people I have encountered that fits the story well. With my plot, I created the perfect character to fall and rise through the plot. The many obstacles through the novel allows the character to gain strength and succeed at conquering the plot.
How do you come up with the titles to your books?
I know some people don’t think of titles until the middle or after they have written the book, but for me, my title is already locked in and ready to go. Sometimes by me creating the title allows me to stay on course with the writing process.
For instance, Our Friendship Matters was created to express the Black Live Matter movement but help friends of color, different ethnicities, or any type of different background to help with everyday questions about life and how young adult (friends) of those categories struggle to interact with each other from those issues in society.
Can you share with us something about the Our Friendship Matters that isn’t in the blurb?
Some scenes in the book are actually true.
If Our Friendship Matters was to be made into a movie, who are the celebrities that would star in it?
Sasha would be Katerina Graham
Leah would be Miley Cyrus
Leo would be Rome Flynn
Cameron would be Taylor Laughtne
Richard would be Brandon T. Jackson
Are you working on anything at the present you would like to share with your readers about?
Yes, I am working on three two projects and completed four within in the process of completing Our Friendship Matters. The projects I’m working on is dealing with social injustice another young adult book and a middle grade book.
What book is currently on your bedside table?
